It’s November - Now what?
The leaves have fallen and the yard is raked, all the flower pots and summer bird baths put away. What is there to do now? GO HIKING!
Fall is the perfect time to go hiking in Wisconsin. The weather is cool so you’re less likely to overheat and the mosquitos are gone. This makes for a much more enjoyable hiking experience. Wisconsin in general has so many great places to hike to. You can hike to waterfalls, lakes or just a nice brisk walk through the woods.

A few quick tips to prepare you for your hike:

Get your parks pass - you can order online ahead of time or buy it at the park the day of.

Look at the map of the park and decide on a path. Paths are marked by colors. Each one has a different route and distance. Choose the one that’s right for you. Stay on your path by following the post with the color of the path you chose.

Some people like walking sticks to help them along the way. If that’s you, visit a local sporting goods store or find them online.

Dress in layers so you can easily warm up or cool off depending on the current weather.

Make sure you’re wearing hiking shoes with a good grip. The ground is uneven and can be slippery at times, so proper hiking shoes or boots are essential.

Bring your camera! The scenery is sure to be beautiful and there will likely be many photo opps as you hike, so bring your camera to capture them. Make sure you keep your camera secured in a backpack when not in use.
